11 Questions

I was doing my daily IG stalking, and saw Snowglobenails' 11 questions photo and saw that I was tagged! Funny because I didn't see the tag come up in my notifications. But anyway, here we go! Her questions are :

1. If you could eat any food for the rest of your life, what would it be.
Easy, KALBI RIBS!!! Specifically the Kalbi Rib Plate Lunch from Da Kitchen, NOMS.

2. Stuck on an island.. What actor or actress would you bring with you?
Shiii...maybe Jennifer Lawrence. Only if she could channel her inner Katniss though. I love her humor and personality, and she'd do the hunting for us.

3. Any tattoos?
Naw, I don't even know if I would want one in the future. Maybe my sons' name somewhere though.

4. Tv series you have watched every episode of?
Oh man, I don't even know. I don't remember any like American TV shows I've fully watched, but I know I've finished a lot of Animes. Chobits, Kimi Ni Todoke, Elfin Lied, Ouran High School Host Club, Full Metal Alchemist, Sword Art Online, etcetera etcetera...

5. What pets do you have?
There are 4 pets in the household: two Pomeranians and two bunnies. One of the poms are actually me and my bfs', so I guess just one.

6. What do you do for work?
At home and my baby is my boss.

7. Dream job?
Something in the cosmetology field. Either cutting hair, or a manicurist. Not a nail tech though. I don't really want to learn acrylics or do feet.

8. Favourite polish ever?
I really love 24/7 (hot pink) and High Strung (lime green) from Sinful Colors. But then again, I do have a lot of untrieds.

9. Favourite concert you have been to?
I've only ever been to one which was a Katchafire concert with Ooklah Da Mok and Soldiers of Jah Army.

10. Favourite childhood memory?
Probably just every memory spending time at my grammas', playing with my cousins. I spent a lot of time there.

11. The last time you laughed so hard you cried?
I dropped a cupcake on my sister yesterday. She got it on Vine lol.

Thanks so much for tagging me Megan!
My questions are:
1) Any other hobbies/obsessions?
2) Any love/hate relationship with a certain polish?
3) Biggest pet peeve.
4) Does your home town have any sort of slang for any words? (Hawaii has lots of them lol, for example: Pau-done, da kine-the thing, hanabata-boogers)
5) Biggest distant lemming (needs to be shipped to you)
6) Favorite book (if you read, if you don't...what kind of person are you?!?!?!)
7) Family nickname?
8) Your clothing style.
9) One thing you would improve on if you could.
10) What would you do if you received a check for $10,000 right this second.
11) A phrase that describes yourself.

Sinful Colors Sail La Vie/Ahoy There // Bright essentials

I think I have abandoned my blog long enough. I think it's been a whole month I haven't made a post, ugh that's so bad. Here's a couple of swatches of my newest babies in the bunch! I wanted to try out the colors already so I didn't do "proper" swatches, but ahh who cares. They all look good together anyway!

First we have Sinful Colors Eva So Bright on the index and pinky, with Revlon Coast is Clear on the middle and ring. Isn't it the perfect summer color combo? I think so!

Eva So Bright is from Sinful Colors' new collection Bright Essentials. It's a brand new color, not a repeat. It's a very pretty hot coral-y pink. Took two coats to opacity.
Coast is Clear has been around for quite a while. I don't know exactly when, but I got it on clearance for $2. A pretty, toned down, aqua blue color with shimmer. It's pretty sheer so I put so white undies on beforehand. This was 4 coats plus white.

Next are both from Sinful Colors but from different collections.

On my index and thumb, I have Cross My Heart from the Sail La Vie/Ahoy There collection. My middle and pinky is High Strung from the Bright Essentials collection. It's a mega favorite of mine. Doesn't the color combo look like apples? I loooove these two together.

Cross my Heart is a beautiful cherry red jelly. It took 3-4 coats for it to reach opacity. I don't usually like reds on me but this is gorgeous!
High Strung is a neon lime green/yellow. I can honestly say its my favorite color out of my whole collection. I love it this much lol. It's a jelly and took about 4 coats to reach the level in the picture above. Gahhh I love it, it's like a top lemming, but I already have it. I need backups.

I really loved both of the new SC collections. I need to pick up some other colors that I want. Thanks for reading guys! See you soon!

Amazing Ross find: Orly Polish

Hi guys!

So the other day, I went to Ross and found something that I never thought I'd see for a loooong time, ORLY NAIL POLISH! And better yet, in the little packs that they had, there was Orly Gumdrop! I was so excited. I was literally OMGing out loud. They were packaged in boxes that said "Perfect Pair". I'm guessing it's just two shades that go well together.

Orly Pixy Stix is a really pretty pinky-coral that is perfect for summer time. It's not too bright, so it's very wearable. Application is very smooth. You can get away with two coats with this, but I used three to cover up all of my imperfections. Topped with Seche Vite.

Gumdrop is a minty green / light teal color that I personally love. I've seen this color on IG and I wanted it so badly! Now it's mine, muahahahaha! Application was a bit streaky, but a third coat helped cover any imperfections. Topped with Seche Vite.

Pink Chocolate is a dusty rose sort of color. It looks very similar to the Revlon Colorstay Vintage Rose. I did a comparison on my thumb and Vintage Rose is slightly darker in color (and a better formula imo). I still really do like this color. It's very sophisticated and I'm sure you'd be able to wear this to work. Formula was very smooth and only required 2 coats for opacity.

Lastly, is Naughty. It's a very deep deep blood red, that could look black in some lights. It's a very vampy polish, nice for fall and winter. This polish makes my skin look so much lighter than it is! The polish itself was pretty sheer, which I didn't expect, but the coverage was buildable. This was actually 4 thin coats.

My overall opinion of Orly nail polish; I really like it! I would like to try more of them. I've heard that Orly makes a really nice pale yellow that's not streaky like other yellows I've come across. I so wish they sold Orly permanently in Maui :(
Well, thanks for reading and have a great day!a

Floral Grapes? And pinstripes of course

Hey you awesome people,
I haven't posted in a whole week! I just didn't know what to post, or am just uninspired as of late. But when I logged on, DAMN, my jaw just dropped! I'm up to 500 post views! Wowzers, that's a lot to me. My most viewed post is my Sinful Colors Sinful Shine swatch post, second is my Island Girl swatch post. I guess people like my swatches c: That makes me giddy xD

OK, on to the actual reason for this post...

Apologies in advance for the lack of mani-photos.

I recently got my striping tape in and wanted to try it. Please don't mind my lack in floral painting skills. My boyfriend even said they look like grapes -____- Well I think they're cute grapes. But can I just say that I love love LOVE striping tape? I always avoided striped mani's because I could never cut my scotch tape so uniformly. Stripes are one of my favorite patterns and I'm so glad I got those dang striping tape things. They're kind of hard to handle though.

I kind of got my inspiration from KaitlinFerland of The Daily Polish. I always loved how she would mix up her nail art by doing designs on two of her nails side by side, then paint the rest of her nails a plain color.

Colors I used are:
  • Tea Beauty Lavender Sugar (pink color)
  • Revlon Bare Bones (nude color)
  • Wet n Wild On a Trip (dark purple)
  • Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac (light purple)
  • Loreal New Money (leaf green)
  • Sinful Shine Rendezvous (leaf detail)
  • Sinful Shine I'm Blushing (pinkie pinstripe)
Base and Top Coats:
  • Duri Rejuvacote (base)
  • NYC In a New York Minute Quick Dry Polish Grand Central Station (top coat)

Island Girl Nail Polish: My First Batch, AND I LIVE IN HAWAII! -____-

Hi guys,
I haven't even heard of Island Girl till I read about it in an article about cuticle care a couple of weeks/a month ago. It was on Pinterest I think. I thought they only made the cuticle oil too! I didn't really pay attention to it because I didn't really like oils on my hands, I much preferred cream. Then I found out that they only sell it at Abc stores. I thought they sold the oil at Sephora or Ulta or something. There are a ton of Abc stores on Maui, like why haven't I heard of them? I find it so sad lol. Well it kind of makes sense since I don't really venture into Abc stores, they're more for tourists, which means tourists = expensive. I decided to check out the nearest Abc store for Island Girl; the display was so full!

Chevron and Floral Nail Art

Hello guys!

This is the first time I did some nail art in a while! I've always been in love with the chevron print, and just sharpened my pinking shears so I thought, why not right? I also saw a beautiful rose print that TheCraftyNinja posted on instagram, she also did a tutorial on it too! Go check out her page, she's one of the first nail accounts I followed on Instagram. She's so talented. Well, I tried to make a rose inspired by that but it kind of just looks like a big blob lol.

Onyx Professional: 100% Pure Acetone Nail Polish Remover Review

Hello lovelies!

I'm going to do a review on the Onyx 100% Pure Acetone Polish Remover with the pink rubber bristles. Jar removers similar to this usually have a sponge with three holes that you stick your finger in. I, personally, didn't like those kind of removers because they didn't last long and the polish stuck to the sponge, rendering it useless after only a couple of times. I saw this at my local Walmart and decided to try it, since it wasn't a sponge remover. It retails at Walmart for $3.75.

Sinful Colors: Sinful Shine with Gel Tech Swatches

Hi guys! I'm back with a review of Sinful Colors' new Sinful Shine with Gel Tech line. It claims to have "5x more glossy than a patented leather shoe".
Retails for $2.99, whereas the regular SC polish is just $1.99.
After hearing about another new Sinful Colors collection on Instagram, I wanted to check it out but thought, oh it's probably another collection with permanent line repeats again. I saw this display in the "nailpolish" hashtag and I just had to see it. You know a collection has so much colors if the display goes vertical instead of horizontal.

Nouveau Cheap

I purchased 12 of the 32 colors but I plan on going back for more hehe.
I did manini (small) swatches on each finger because I can't find the time to swatch each polish on my whole hand. I'll save that for another day.

All were done with no top coat.

Essie Maximillian Strasse-Her

Hi lovelies!
Don't hate but I was "formally" an Essie hater after multiple bad experiences with their polishes. It was mainly the pastel, light shades because of the sheer, streaky-ness that made me loathe them. It wasn't until about 2 weeks ago that I decided to try it out again.

Sephora Birthday Haul

Hello lovelies,
This is a day late but I was waiting until I got my blog started up to do an actual haul, which will be my first official one ever! EXCITING! Well, as you know, I don't shop high end much because 1) I don't make money to be splurging like that, and 2) it's about an hour away, in my case I have to drive around a freaking mountain. But since I was on that side and I had a good amount of money, I wanted to get the beloved L'Occitane hand cream that I've been lusting over.
Walking into Sephora, I had no idea what else I wanted other than that hand cream so I just bee-lined it to the display. Little did I know there were different scents! This was a good and bad thing. Good because there's variety, bad because I had no idea which to pick.

Hot Pink with a Coral-ly Peach.

Four days ago, it was my 21st birthday! Awesome right? Clubbing, drinking till I throw up, endless "red cup" photos. No, I didn't drink an ounce, nor did I dance my panties off. Instead I got to stay at the Westin Kaanapali for two days and a night. I also got some sweet birthday money and guess what I spend some of it on...that's right! POLISH!! I got various drugstore polishes and one Sephora by OPI polish that was on sale for $3. I'm trying to decide on which one to use this week. Should I do a vibrant hot pink, or a simple light nude? I decided on the hot pink since I have a wedding to go to next week, I'll do the nude then.

FIRST POST EVAR!

Hey guys,

It's my first post ever! For the past couple of days, I've been scouring my favorite blogs for their first post just to see what they put. Some of them are pretty simply put as it being their first post ever and being excited on this grand journey known as blogging. Others go right off the bat with a swatch or jelly sandwich they tried out. I thought and thought, what should my first post be? I'll just go ahead and do an about me post, seems simple enough.
